Chainlink Launches 24/5 Market Data Streams for Tokenized US Stocks and ETFs

TLDR

  • Chainlink launched 24/5 US Equities Streams to provide market data for tokenized stocks and ETFs beyond standard trading hours
  • Eight crypto platforms including BitMEX, Lighter, and ApeX are already using the new data streams
  • The service covers all major US stocks and ETFs across 40 blockchains using the Chainlink Data Standard
  • New York Stock Exchange announced Monday it is building a blockchain platform for 24/7 trading of tokenized securities
  • US regulators SEC and CFTC are exploring the possibility of allowing 24/7 markets

Chainlink announced Tuesday it will offer 24/5 market data streams for US stocks and exchange-traded funds. The new service aims to help bring parts of the $80 trillion US equities market onto blockchain networks.

The 24/5 US Equities Streams will provide market data five days per week across all trading sessions. This includes after-hours and overnight sessions beyond the standard 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM ET trading window.

The infrastructure company said the product allows crypto platforms to support trading, lending, or derivatives based on tokenized stocks and ETFs. Eight crypto protocols are already using the new data streams.

These platforms include Lighter, BitMEX, ApeX, HelloTrade, Decibel, Monaco, Opinion Labs, and Orderly Network. The service will operate across 40 blockchains using the Chainlink Data Standard.

Crypto Platforms Race to Offer Extended Trading Hours

Multiple exchanges have been competing to offer round-the-clock stock and commodities trading. The New York Stock Exchange said Monday it is developing a blockchain-based platform for 24/7 trading of tokenized stocks and ETFs.

Kraken began offering 24/5 access to CME-based markets last year. These markets include gold, oil, and equity indexes.

BitMEX recently launched 24/7 Equity Perps trading. The offering covers assets like Amazon, Apple, Circle, Coinbase, Meta, Nvidia, Robinhood, Tesla, and the S&P 500.

Coinbase Derivatives also rolled out 24/7 trading for altcoin perpetual-style futures. This followed its acquisition of Deribit.

Lighter CEO Vladimir Novakovski said the integration enables the platform to extend perpetual execution beyond regular market hours. The company began listing 24/5 equity perps markets earlier this month.

Data Streams Enable New Financial Products

Chainlink’s oracle technology brings off-chain data to blockchain smart contracts. This includes bid and ask prices, trading volume, and status flags.

The company said most on-chain data solutions only provide single price points during standard trading hours. This creates gaps where on-chain markets cannot replicate market conditions 24 hours per day.

The new streams can support yield and exposure strategies using structured products and vaults. They can also power prediction and lending markets based on tokenized equities.

Chainlink said the service enables synthetic equities and funds among other on-chain products. The company noted that US equities remain underrepresented on blockchain networks because they trade during dedicated market hours rather than continuously like cryptocurrencies.

US regulators are exploring extended market hours as well. The Securities and Exchange Commission and Commodity Futures Trading Commission said in September they were examining 24/7 market possibilities.

Chainlink stated the 24/5 US Equities Streams are “just the beginning” and invited developers to learn about accessing 24/7 coverage.

The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For

The post The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Visions of future technology are often prescient about the broad strokes while flubbing the details. The tablets in “2001: A Space Odyssey” do indeed look like iPads, but you never see the astronauts paying for subscriptions or wasting hours on Candy Crush.  Channel factories are one vision that arose early in the history of the Lightning Network to address some challenges that Lightning has faced from the beginning. Despite having grown to become Bitcoin’s most successful layer-2 scaling solution, with instant and low-fee payments, Lightning’s scale is limited by its reliance on payment channels. Although Lightning shifts most transactions off-chain, each payment channel still requires an on-chain transaction to open and (usually) another to close. As adoption grows, pressure on the blockchain grows with it. The need for a more scalable approach to managing channels is clear. Channel factories were supposed to meet this need, but where are they? In 2025, subnetworks are emerging that revive the impetus of channel factories with some new details that vastly increase their potential. They are natively interoperable with Lightning and achieve greater scale by allowing a group of participants to open a shared multisig UTXO and create multiple bilateral channels, which reduces the number of on-chain transactions and improves capital efficiency. Achieving greater scale by reducing complexity, Ark and Spark perform the same function as traditional channel factories with new designs and additional capabilities based on shared UTXOs.  Channel Factories 101 Channel factories have been around since the inception of Lightning. A factory is a multiparty contract where multiple users (not just two, as in a Dryja-Poon channel) cooperatively lock funds in a single multisig UTXO. They can open, close and update channels off-chain without updating the blockchain for each operation. Only when participants leave or the factory dissolves is an on-chain transaction…

This development comes as the network continues to evolve, recently deploying its major “Rio” upgrade on the Amoy testnet to enhance future scaling capabilities. This information comes from a new joint report on the state of the RWA market published on Sept. 17 by blockchain analytics firm Dune and data platform RWA.xyz. The focus on RWAs is intensifying across the industry, coinciding with events like the ongoing Real-World Asset Summit in New York. Sandeep Nailwal, CEO of the Polygon Foundation, highlighted the findings via a post on X, noting that the TVL is spread across 269 assets and 2,900 holders on the Polygon PoS chain.
