Gentex Corporation Announces the Ops-Core® NOMAD™ System, a Lightweight, Low-Profile Mount for Night Vision and Visual Augmentation System

CARBONDALE, Pa.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Gentex Corporation, a global leader in personal protection and situational awareness solutions for defense forces, emergency responders, and industrial personnel, announced the launch of the Ops-Core NOMAD (Night Operations Mounting and Deployment) System, a highly stable, low-profile head harness engineered to securely mount night vision and visual augmentation system (NVG/VAS) without the need for a traditional ballistic or bump helmet.

The Ops-Core NOMAD System is a one-size-fits-all head harness engineered to provide a stable, comfortable, and secure platform for mounting night vision and visual augmentation devices. Available in black, the system is designed for Global SOF, Close Combat Forces and law enforcement officers operating in low-visibility, covert, or jungle environments where traditional helmets are impractical or unnecessary. The NOMAD system delivers mission-ready performance in a compact, collapsible form factor without the weight or bulk of a helmet system.

“We designed the NOMAD System to give operators a lightweight, low-profile solution without sacrificing stability,” said Peter Harbeck, SOF Segment Director at Gentex Corporation. “Across austere environments and varied mission-sets, Special Operations Forces need a comfortable, stable NVG platform that collapses and stows easily when a helmet is not practical.”

The NOMAD System combines Ops-Core’s advanced fit technologies to deliver full-helmet–level stability in a lightweight, low-profile design. Its LockDown® Cable Occ-Dial® System ensures a silent, micro-adjustable fit for quick on/off and fit fine tuning, while the Head-Loc® FLEX Retention System allows the strap to be worn under or over the chin for comfort or maximum stability. An Integrated Rear Mount Strap enables immediate attachment of battery packs or counterweights, keeping the system balanced and comfortable even with heavier night vision devices.

Additional features include elastic webbing loops for convenient cable management and foliage attachment for low-visibility environments, an Ops-Core Modular Bungee Shroud with integrated bungee retention, and removable comfort pads for easy maintenance. The Ops-Core NOMAD System is proudly assembled in the USA and Berry Compliant, ensuring supply chain reliability and quality assurance.

The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For

The post The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Visions of future technology are often prescient about the broad strokes while flubbing the details. The tablets in “2001: A Space Odyssey” do indeed look like iPads, but you never see the astronauts paying for subscriptions or wasting hours on Candy Crush.  Channel factories are one vision that arose early in the history of the Lightning Network to address some challenges that Lightning has faced from the beginning. Despite having grown to become Bitcoin’s most successful layer-2 scaling solution, with instant and low-fee payments, Lightning’s scale is limited by its reliance on payment channels. Although Lightning shifts most transactions off-chain, each payment channel still requires an on-chain transaction to open and (usually) another to close. As adoption grows, pressure on the blockchain grows with it. The need for a more scalable approach to managing channels is clear. Channel factories were supposed to meet this need, but where are they? In 2025, subnetworks are emerging that revive the impetus of channel factories with some new details that vastly increase their potential. They are natively interoperable with Lightning and achieve greater scale by allowing a group of participants to open a shared multisig UTXO and create multiple bilateral channels, which reduces the number of on-chain transactions and improves capital efficiency. Achieving greater scale by reducing complexity, Ark and Spark perform the same function as traditional channel factories with new designs and additional capabilities based on shared UTXOs.  Channel Factories 101 Channel factories have been around since the inception of Lightning. A factory is a multiparty contract where multiple users (not just two, as in a Dryja-Poon channel) cooperatively lock funds in a single multisig UTXO. They can open, close and update channels off-chain without updating the blockchain for each operation. Only when participants leave or the factory dissolves is an on-chain transaction…
