Why Is US Govt and Wall Street on Alert Over Anthropic AI Model

Anthropic has moved to the center of regulatory attention. Earlier today, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell addressed senior Wall Street executives over concerns tied to a new artificial intelligence system. The meeting, held at the Treasury Department in Washington on short notice, focused on alleged cybersecurity risks associated with Anthropic’s latest model, Mythos.

Anthropic Mythos AI Model Raises Cybersecurity Concerns

Officials called the meeting to address risks associated with Anthropic and its reported capabilities. According to a Bloomberg report, regulators want major banks to prepare for a new category of cyber threats driven by advanced AI systems.

However, Anthropic has stated that its Mythos model can identify and exploit vulnerabilities across major operating systems and web browsers when prompted. This capability has raised concerns about how such tools could be used if accessed by malicious actors. This follows a previous report in which Florida launched an Investigation into OpenAI and ChatGPT over alleged data-handling risks.

Anthropic Project Glasswing Expands AI-Driven Cyber Defense Efforts

At the same time, Anthropic restricted access to the model while launching a joint defense initiative. The effort, known as Project Glasswing, includes major technology and financial firms such as Amazon, Apple, and JPMorgan Chase. In addition, the initiative brings together organizations such as Google, NVIDIA, and Linux Foundation to strengthen software security.

Participants will use the model to identify and fix vulnerabilities in high-security systems. Anthropic said the model has already identified thousands of high-severity flaws across widely used software environments.

The company has also committed up to $100 million in usage credits and $4 million in direct funding to support open-source security efforts. In addition, more than 40 organizations involved in maintaining core infrastructure have been granted access to assist with defensive applications. The AI market continues to expand in different areas following the latest updates, where the Solana Foundation introduced one-line integration for AI agent skills.

Anthropic Growth, Legal Disputes, and Market Response

Meanwhile, Anthropic has reported solid financial expansion. The company’s annual recurring revenue increased from $9 billion at the start of 2026 to $30 billion, drawing attention across the technology sector.

The company also secured temporary legal relief after a federal court in San Francisco blocked actions by the Trump administration. Judge Rita Lin ruled that the Pentagon’s designation of Anthropic as a supply chain risk lacked statutory support and described the measures as arbitrary.

Market commentary has also followed the company’s growth. In an X post, Analyst Dan Ives rejected the claims that Anthropic’s expansion threatens firms like Palantir Technologies, citing strong revenue growth in Palantir’s U.S. commercial and government segments.
