FC Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick will make a series of interesting changes to his line up when the defending champions travel to Racing Santander for a last 16 Copa del Rey tie.

Madrid’s 3-2 upset and KO – in a nightmare start for new head coach Alvaro Arbeloa – at Albacete on Wednesday night should serve as a warning to the Goliaths not to underestimate David.

With the Super Cup already clinched, which contributed to Xabi Alonso losing his job, Flick can now concentrate on retaining Spain’s other two domestic trophies won last season in his maiden term at the Spotify Camp Nou.

FC Barcelona coach Flick will keep his word

At a prematch press conference on Wednesday where he was asked about Alonso’s dismissal, Flick confirmed that Joan Garcia would play.

This comes as bad news to Marc-Andre ter Stegen, with second string ‘keepers often allowed to play in the cup as we saw with Andriy Lunin at Thibaut Courtois’ expense last night.

But it can also be taken as a sign that the German is taking no chances, as the World Cup hopeful that has been fantastic so far in 2026 is protected by a back line of Alejandro Balde, Gerard Martin, Eric Garcia and Jules Kounde.

That means there is no space in the line up for new signing Joao Cancelo, the most expensive player in the world in his position, but Flick said the Portuguese will get some minutes at some point.

It’s a new look midfield and attack for FC Barcelona

Flick has gone for a completely new look midfield and attack compared to last time out against Real Madrid.

With the two Marcs – Bernal and Casado – operating in a double pivot, Dani Olmo is in front of them as CAM.

On the attacking line, Ferran Torres is the striker with Marcus Rashford and a Roony Bardghji that Flick has closed the exit door to on either side of the Spanish target man.

This means rests for the likes of Lamine Yamal, Pedri, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski, but we could see them at some point if things get serious.

What did FC Barcelona coach Flick say?

“We’ll have to be ready from the first minute,” Flick warned.

“We had to decide what we wanted. We’re well covered at centre-back with Gerard Martin, Eric and Cubarsi, and with [Ronald] Araujo back as well. Cancelo is a fantastic player, very professional and very strong going forward. We need players with quality when opponents sit deep in the final third, and he’s a good option for that,” he then later added, as per why Barca had gone for the Portuguese.

FC Barcelona Vs. Racing Santander kicks off at 21.00 local time in Spain.

The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For

The post The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Visions of future technology are often prescient about the broad strokes while flubbing the details. The tablets in “2001: A Space Odyssey” do indeed look like iPads, but you never see the astronauts paying for subscriptions or wasting hours on Candy Crush.  Channel factories are one vision that arose early in the history of the Lightning Network to address some challenges that Lightning has faced from the beginning. Despite having grown to become Bitcoin’s most successful layer-2 scaling solution, with instant and low-fee payments, Lightning’s scale is limited by its reliance on payment channels. Although Lightning shifts most transactions off-chain, each payment channel still requires an on-chain transaction to open and (usually) another to close. As adoption grows, pressure on the blockchain grows with it. The need for a more scalable approach to managing channels is clear. Channel factories were supposed to meet this need, but where are they? In 2025, subnetworks are emerging that revive the impetus of channel factories with some new details that vastly increase their potential. They are natively interoperable with Lightning and achieve greater scale by allowing a group of participants to open a shared multisig UTXO and create multiple bilateral channels, which reduces the number of on-chain transactions and improves capital efficiency. Achieving greater scale by reducing complexity, Ark and Spark perform the same function as traditional channel factories with new designs and additional capabilities based on shared UTXOs.  Channel Factories 101 Channel factories have been around since the inception of Lightning. A factory is a multiparty contract where multiple users (not just two, as in a Dryja-Poon channel) cooperatively lock funds in a single multisig UTXO. They can open, close and update channels off-chain without updating the blockchain for each operation. Only when participants leave or the factory dissolves is an on-chain transaction…

China Blocks Nvidia’s RTX Pro 6000D as Local Chips Rise

The post China Blocks Nvidia’s RTX Pro 6000D as Local Chips Rise appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. China Blocks Nvidia’s RTX Pro 6000D as Local Chips Rise China’s internet regulator has ordered the country’s biggest technology firms, including Alibaba and ByteDance, to stop purchasing Nvidia’s RTX Pro 6000D GPUs. According to the Financial Times, the move shuts down the last major channel for mass supplies of American chips to the Chinese market. Why Beijing Halted Nvidia Purchases Chinese companies had planned to buy tens of thousands of RTX Pro 6000D accelerators and had already begun testing them in servers. But regulators intervened, halting the purchases and signaling stricter controls than earlier measures placed on Nvidia’s H20 chip. Image: Nvidia An audit compared Huawei and Cambricon processors, along with chips developed by Alibaba and Baidu, against Nvidia’s export-approved products. Regulators concluded that Chinese chips had reached performance levels comparable to the restricted U.S. models. This assessment pushed authorities to advise firms to rely more heavily on domestic processors, further tightening Nvidia’s already limited position in China. China’s Drive Toward Tech Independence The decision highlights Beijing’s focus on import substitution — developing self-sufficient chip production to reduce reliance on U.S. supplies. “The signal is now clear: all attention is focused on building a domestic ecosystem,” said a representative of a leading Chinese tech company. Nvidia had unveiled the RTX Pro 6000D in July 2025 during CEO Jensen Huang’s visit to Beijing, in an attempt to keep a foothold in China after Washington restricted exports of its most advanced chips. But momentum is shifting. Industry sources told the Financial Times that Chinese manufacturers plan to triple AI chip production next year to meet growing demand. They believe “domestic supply will now be sufficient without Nvidia.” What It Means for the Future With Huawei, Cambricon, Alibaba, and Baidu stepping up, China is positioning itself for long-term technological independence. Nvidia, meanwhile, faces…
