Global girl group KATSEYE will take the stage at the 68th annual Grammy Awards on February 1, 2026, the Recording Academy announced this week. The six-member group will perform as part of a special segment featuring all eight Best New Artist nominees, marking a significant milestone for the act that debuted just over a year ago.

The special segment will see all eight Best New Artist nominees share the stage before competing for one of the ceremony’s most prestigious awards. KATSEYE will perform alongside Leon Thomas, Olivia Dean, The Marías, Addison Rae, sombr, Alex Warren, and Lola Young. The Grammy Awards will broadcast live from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on CBS at 8 p.m. Eastern.

KATSEYE Makes History With Two Grammy Nominations

KATSEYE earned two Grammy nominations: Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their single “Gabriela.” The nominations are historic. Both KATSEYE’s “Gabriela” and animated group Huntr/x’s “Golden” mark the first time girl groups have been nominated in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category since the award’s creation in 2012.

In the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category, KATSEYE’s “Gabriela” competes against Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande’s “Defying Gravity,” Rosé and Bruno Mars’ “APT,” and SZA and Kendrick Lamar’s “30 for 30.”

From Reality Show To Record Breaking Festival Performances

KATSEYE’s Grammy performance represents the culmination of a rapid rise that began with their formation through “The Debut: Dream Academy,” a reality competition series created through a partnership between South Korean entertainment company HYBE and Geffen Records. HYBE also manages BTS. Their journey was documented in the Netflix series “Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE.”

The group comprises six members representing diverse cultural backgrounds: Daniela (Cuban/Venezuelan-American from Atlanta), Lara (Indian from New York), Manon (Ghanaian-Italian from Zurich, Switzerland), Megan (Chinese-American from Honolulu), Sophia (from Manila, Philippines), and Yoonchae (from Seoul, South Korea).

The group made headlines at Lollapalooza 2025, drawing the largest daytime crowd in the festival’s history with an estimated 85,000 attendees. This record-breaking performance demonstrated their ability to command massive audiences despite being relative newcomers. They recently completed a sold-out North American tour, performing 16 shows across 13 cities.

Streaming Success And Chart Performance

KATSEYE has surpassed 10 million followers on TikTok and exceeded 1 billion streams on Spotify across all credits. They are currently the only girl group with three songs simultaneously charting on the Spotify Global Daily Top Songs chart: “Gabriela,” “Gnarly,” and “Touch.”

The group released their debut EP “SIS (Soft Is Strong)” in August 2024, featuring the breakthrough single “Touch.” Their second EP, “Beautiful Chaos,” arrived in June 2025 and peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart. Their single “Gabriela” reached No. 37 on the Billboard Hot 100, while “Gnarly” reentered the chart for a total of 11 weeks, demonstrating sustained public appeal in the mainstream market.

For their “Beautiful Chaos” EP, KATSEYE worked with high-profile collaborators. Returning partners included Justin Tranter, known for work with Selena Gomez and Chappell Roan. New collaborators included Andrew Watt (Lady Gaga, Jungkook), John Ryan (Sabrina Carpenter), and Kristin Carpenter (Nessa Barrett, JISOO).

Chart Success Came Quickly For KATSEYE

HYBE CEO Calls Grammy Nominations Extraordinary

HYBE CEO Jason Jaesang Lee described KATSEYE’s Grammy nominations as “extraordinary” considering the group debuted just over a year ago. He told analysts during the company’s Q3 2025 earnings call that the recognition shows “HYBE’s global production system is competitive in the Western market as well.” Lee added that K-pop’s production model and creative processes have been “successfully applied in the US music market, resulting in gaining the recognition at the prestigious Grammy awards.”

Sold Out Tour Preceded Grammy Nominations

The group recently completed a sold-out North American tour, performing 16 shows across 13 cities. This touring success preceded their Grammy nominations and established KATSEYE as a viable live act capable of filling venues despite their brief career span.

For their “Beautiful Chaos” EP, KATSEYE worked with high-profile collaborators. Returning partners included Justin Tranter, known for work with Selena Gomez and Chappell Roan. New collaborators included Andrew Watt (Lady Gaga, Jungkook), John Ryan (Sabrina Carpenter), and Kristin Carpenter (Nessa Barrett, JISOO).

This year’s Grammy ceremony will be hosted by Trevor Noah for his sixth and final time. The ceremony will also feature performances from lead nominee Sabrina Carpenter, who earned six nominations including Record, Album and Song of the Year. For KATSEYE, the Grammy performance arrives at a pivotal moment in their career trajectory, offering validation of their rapid ascent while providing a platform to reach millions of viewers who may be encountering the group for the first time.

The 68th annual Grammy Awards will air live on CBS on February 1, 2026, at 8 p.m. ET, with streaming available on Paramount+.

What Is Jawboning? Jimmy Kimmel Suspension Sparks Legal Concerns About Trump Administration

The post What Is Jawboning? Jimmy Kimmel Suspension Sparks Legal Concerns About Trump Administration appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Topline Legal experts have raised concerns that ABC’s decision to pull “Jimmy Kimmel Live” from its airwaves following the host’s controversial comments about the death of Charlie Kirk, could be because the Trump administration violated free speech protections through a practice known as “jawboning.” Jimmy Kimmel speaks at Disney’s Advertising Upfront on May 13 in New York City. Disney via Getty Images Key Facts Disney-owned ABC announced Wednesday Kimmel’s show will be taken off the air “indefinitely,” which came after ABC affiliate owner Nexstar—which needs Federal Communications Commission approval to complete a planned acquisition of competitor Tegna Inc.—said it would not air the program due to Kimmel’s comments Monday regarding Kirk’s death and the reaction to it. The sudden move drew particular concern because it came only hours after FCC head Brendan Carr called for ABC to “take action” against Kimmel, and cryptically suggested his agency could take action saying, “We can do this the easy way or the hard way.” While ABC and Nexstar have not given any indication their decisions were influenced by Carr’s comments, the timing raised concerns among legal experts that the Trump administration’s threats may have unlawfully coerced ABC and Nexstar to punish Kimmel, which could constitute jawboning. Jawboning refers to “the use of official speech to inappropriately compel private action,” as defined by the Cato Institute, as governments or public officials—who cannot directly punish private actors for speech they don’t like—can use strongman tactics to try and indirectly silence critics or influence private companies’ actions. The practice is fairly loosely defined and there aren’t many legal safeguards dictating how violations of it are enforced, the Knight First Amendment Institute notes, but the Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled it can be unlawful and an impermissible First Amendment violation when it involves specific threats.
